On June 28, Flora
Margheritis was appointed interim manager of Van Nuys Airport (VNY). During her
nearly 25-year tenure with Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), her career has
included extensive, varied and progressively challenging assignments.
Margheritis arrived at
VNY in 2008 as the Chief of Operations. Since 2010, she has broadened her
experience to include tenant and stakeholder relationships, community outreach,
and airport business marketing and operations.
Greetings and thank you for the opportunity to introduce
I am excited to serve as interim manager at VNY, our
nation’s leading general aviation airport. In the months ahead, I look forward
to building even stronger partnerships with all airport stakeholders, ranging
from local community members and business leaders to airport users and

team on addressing the airport’s most important operational, community, safety
and security issues. These include successful completion of several tenant development
projects, and an 18-month air traffic control tower renovation that is
