Senior Squadron 128 Supports Vital Missions

The Civil Air Patrol’s (CAP) Los Angeles County Group 1 recently honored three members of the VNY-based Hawker Senior Squadron 128 for excellence. The squadron houses a specially-equipped Cessna 182 Skylane on the airfield to maintain mission readiness. 

Civil Air Patrol is the civilian auxiliary of the United States Air Force. Its members fly nearly 100,000 hours per year performing disaster relief, search and rescue, aerial observation and other missions. Volunteer members of Squadron 128 support missions across the nation for organizations ranging from the U.S. Air Force to the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services.

Award recipients include: Capt. Alan Z. Yudkowsky, outstanding squadron commander of the year; 1st Lt. David Gauthier, professional development officer of the year; and 2d Lt. Daniel Goldman, public affairs officer of the year. Other Squadron 128 members from the airport community include VNY Police Lt. Dennis Lau, a former flight instructor and airframe and power plant mechanic; 1st Lt. David Grant, a flight instructor at Mach I Aviation and CAP check pilot; and 2d Lt. Anthony Sandino, a lineman at Signature Flight Support and student pilot.
